Schedule of Courses
Current and Upcoming Courses
The training begins with a face-to-face Orientation Day, and continues with a mixture of online Foundations of Traffic Safety Education and pedagogy lessons, classroom teaching, and behind-the-wheel training. Courses meet on all dates listed. Unless previously arranged with instructor, participants must attend all course meetings in order to pass the course.
How to RegisterRegister online by clicking the "Register Online" link next to the class you want to take. If you need to register by phone, call our office at (503) 838-9237. We encourage participants to register as far ahead of time as possible; preferably at least one week before the course start date. Once the class has started, late registrations will not be accepted.
Tuition is funded by a grant from ODOT for Oregon residents. Participants are responsible for paying their own materials fee of $95. Those who are not residents of Oregon may still take the training, but must pay the full tuition.
Participants who fail the training may choose to retake the course in its entirety. However, ODOT will only pay the course tuition one time per person. The fee to retake the training is dependent on the participant's progress in the course.
Earning College Credit
Academic credit is available for participants for an additional fee. Students with a BA/BS degree have the option of earning graduate-level credit (typically requested by teachers needing credits for renewing their licenses). Students registered for graduate-level credit must complete additional work within six weeks of course completion. Participants must register and pay for academic credits before the last class meeting. Tuition is $240 for four credits or $480 for eight credits. Registration for credit is available via WOU's Division of Extended Programs, (503) 838-8483.
To cancel a registration and receive a refund of material fees paid, a cancellation notice must be faxed to 503-838-8150, attn. Traffic Safety Education or e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the first class meeting. All course materials must be returned to WOU in perfect condition.
